Purple Floral Lampwork Bead by Kerry Harper197 viewsThe first bead I bought at the show was this one from Kerry.
I had picked this bead and the following dichroic one before Kerry told me that she had only been making beads for 12 months - and she is using a hothead!!
It almost made me feel like giving up bead making altogether! But I sorted myself out and am now even more determined to be able to do this well myself... ;-)
Good work Kerry...

Kathryn demoing a hollow bead198 viewsMy very first glass beadmaking class was with Kathryn Wardill in Brisbane in September/October 2003. I had seen some Lampwork Beads on eBay for the first time about a month or two prior, & although I had just quit my job, when I saw an advertisement for the class on the website of Albion Glass in Brisbane, I signed up. I was only going to do the 5 day beginners class, but ended up staying on & doing the three day advanced class afterwards. My entire final pay went into it, but it was money well spent.

Wooden Cabinet for Glass Storage120 viewsThis cabinet has been sitting under Deane's workplace for 5 or 6 years and so we snavled it so I could use it to store my lampwork glass rods. It is 2.3 mt high x 1.08 mt wide x 34 cm deep and only just fits under the ceiling and boy, did the guys have fun getting it in there. ...and then getting it upright. Thankfully they only took a couple of tiny pieces of paint off the house in the process...

Pawn Shop Costume Jewellery Find83 viewsCan't remember exactly when this happened but my youngest daughter and I were looking at some costume jewellery in a local pawn shop when we were directed to another 20 or 30 foot-square boxes of it to look through if we wanted. With the shop assistant saying we could have each piece for $2, we got through about 7 of the boxes before we had to leave. I got some good stuff that I can pull apart and reassign, and if nothing else, my granddaughters now have heaps of jewellery to play dress up with.
